The Labor of Meaning-Making
의미 생성의 노동은 단순한 시간이나 에너지의 투입이 아니다. 의미를 구성하고, 가설을 세우고, 규칙을 형성하고, 결과를 읽어 자기 생각을 수정하는 생성적 인지 활동이다.
아동에게 이 노동은 강제된 수고보다 놀이의 형태로 수행될 수 있다. 상상 속 친구의 수동성과 침묵이 남기는 빈자리, 노력을 인정하고 되돌려주는 피드백이 만드는 순환, 철학적 탐구공동체에서 이유를 주고받는 과정은 서로 다른 장면에서 같은 노동을 보존한다.
노동이 시작되려면 먼저 자신이 해석해도 된다고 느껴야 한다. 그래서 관계로서의 모호성과 해석의 허가는 노동보다 앞선 조건이 된다.
